Glen of Aherlow Trail Half-Marathon
The Glen of Aherlow Trail Half-Marathon takes place in County Tipperary, offering a course that traverses various trails with views of the Galty Mountains. The event is part of the Munster Half-Marathon League and covers a total distance of 22.50 km.
Participants will navigate a route with a total ascent of 563 meters. The course is fully marked, and the use of GPS devices is permitted. To ensure safety, a mandatory Level B kit is required for all participants, which includes a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with an emergency number, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. Kit requirements are finalized on the day of the event based on weather conditions, and random checks may be conducted.
The event provides several facilities for participants at the Aherlow GAA Club and the Aherlow Community Center in Lisvernane. These include parking in a designated field, changing rooms, toilets, and hot showers. There are three water stations positioned along the route to provide hydration.
All entrants receive a technical running singlet, which can be collected during the registration period. After the event, refreshments such as tea, coffee, sandwiches, and sweet treats are served at the community center, where the prize-giving ceremony also takes place. For those requiring extra time, an early start option is available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
