Format, rules and logistics
Each loop starts on the hour and must be completed within the hour to count. A short whistle sequence precedes each loop and the start is signalled by a triangle; runners must be inside the starting corral before the triangle or they will be disqualified. Competitors may not leave the course during a loop except to use the restroom. No personal aid or medical assistance on the course is allowed; receiving medical aid on course results in disqualification. Head torches are allowed and are mandatory for night loops, and a hi-visibility vest is mandatory for night loops. The winner is the last person to complete a loop alone; if the final runner cannot complete a loop alone there is no winner. The course is marked with reflective orange flagging tape (about every 150 m), red directional arrows at intersections and red crosses indicating wrong routes. Crew and spectators are restricted to a designated crew area and vehicles are not allowed in that area. Refunds are available until 16 December 2025 subject to a A$30 admin fee; transfers to another person or event are not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
