Glass House Standing : event overview

Glass House Standing is a Backyard Ultra held at Wild Horse Mountain in the Glasshouse Mountains, Sunshine Coast on 31 December 2025. The event uses a repeated-loop format in which competitors must complete a 6.7 km loop within one hour. The competition continues with a new loop starting on the hour until only one runner completes a loop alone; that finisher is declared the Last One Standing. Profits from the event will be donated to the Save Our Glasshouse Mountains campaign, intended to help halt quarry expansion and protect the Glass House Mountains.

Format, course and rules

Each loop starts on the hour. Runners must be inside the starting corral when the start signal is given; failing to be inside results in disqualification. Each loop must be completed within the hour, and leaving the course during a loop is not allowed except for restroom use. No personal aid or medical assistance on the course is permitted; receiving medical aid on the course leads to disqualification. Head torches are mandatory for night loops. The course will be marked with reflective orange flagging tape, red directional arrows, and red crosses indicating incorrect routes.

Entry, logistics and safety

Entries are limited to 200 and the entry fee is A$185. Minimum age is 15; participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian present. Refunds are available until 16 December 2025 subject to a A$30 administration charge. No transfers to another person or event are allowed. Spectators and support crews are not allowed on the course and may stay only in the designated crew area; vehicles are not permitted in the crew area. Mandatory night-loop gear includes a hi-vis vest to AS/NZS 4602 standards and a headlight or suitable torch. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
