Glass House Standing

The Glass House Standing is a Backyard Ultra endurance event located at the base of Wild Horse Mountain on the Sunshine Coast. Participant numbers are limited to 200 runners. The event supports a local cause, with profits donated to a campaign aimed at protecting the Glass House Mountains from quarry expansion.

The competition follows a specific format where runners must complete a 6.7 km loop every hour. A whistle is blown at three, two, and one-minute intervals before each new lap begins. Participants must be inside the starting corral when the starting signal sounds, or they are disqualified. This process repeats every hour until only one runner remains.

The course is marked with reflective orange and silver flagging tape and red directional arrows. Red crosses indicate areas that are not part of the course. For night loops, participants are required to wear a high-visibility vest and carry a headlamp or torch. Other recommended gear includes a hydration pack, compression bandage, and a mobile phone.

The event hub is situated at the Wild Horse Mountain Car Park. Each competitor is allocated a 3x3 metre space for a support crew and equipment. To determine a winner, one individual must complete a final loop solo; otherwise, no winner is declared. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
