Event details
Glass House Standing is a Backyard Ultra held on 31 December 2025 at Wild Horse Mountain Scenic Lookout, Wild Horse Rd, Coochin Creek, Sunshine Coast. The event is limited to 200 entrants. Entry for the main event is A$185. Minimum age is 15 years; participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian present. Refunds are available until 16 December 2025 and are subject to a A$30 administration fee. Transfers to another person or event are not permitted.
Race format, course and logistics
The race is run as repeated loops of a 6.7 km circuit. Each loop must be completed within one hour to count; runners must return to the start area before the next loop begins. The winner is the last person to complete a loop on their own; other finishers are recorded as DNF if they do not meet that condition. Runners may only leave the course to use the restroom. Non-competitors and withdrawn runners are not allowed on the course. No personal aid or handoffs are permitted on course; receiving medical aid on the course will result in disqualification, with first aid available at the start/finish area.
The course is marked with reflective orange and silver flagging (about every 150 m), red directional arrows, and red crosses for incorrect routes. Head torches are allowed and mandatory for any night loops. Mandatory night gear includes a hi-visibility vest meeting AS/NZS 4602 standards and a headlight or suitable torch. Crew and spectators are restricted to the designated crew area; no support is allowed on the course and no vehicles are permitted in the crew area. Profits will be donated to the Save Our Glasshouse Mountains campaign to help oppose quarry expansion and protect the range. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
