The Glasgow University Des Gilmore 5 Mile Road Race is scheduled for 07 March 2026. The event is the 62nd running of the Glasgow University 5 Mile Race and has been renamed in honour of Des Gilmore. It is held on the outskirts of Glasgow, with start and finish at Garscube Sports Complex.
Course
The race uses a two-lap route on quiet roads around Garscube Sports Complex. The course combines flat sections with some hilly parts and is UKA-certified at 5 miles (8.05 km). The event is licensed by Scottish Athletics under UK athletics rules.
Entries and prices
Online entry is open until 06 March 2026, subject to demand. On-the-day entry may be available at Garscube Sports Complex at an increased price of £14, but on-the-day entries are not guaranteed. Standard entry prices until 06 March 2026 17:00 are £12, with a discounted rate of £10 for members of SA, EA, or WA. Student entry is listed at £10 until the same date. A service fee of 4% (minimum 50p) applies to each sign-up.
Race day information
Registration and number collection take place at Garscube Sports Complex. Toilet and changing room facilities are available at the venue. Prize-giving will take place inside Garscube immediately after the race, with awards for Masters Men/Women and Senior Men/Women. Results will be published on Power of Ten and runBritain.
