About the race
The Essex Celebratory 5K is the season closing event for Girls on the Run Vermont, held at the Champlain Valley Expo on June 5, 2027. The event is framed as a celebratory conclusion to the program season and is intended to give participants a tangible sense of accomplishment.
The course distance is 3.1 miles. Every registered participant who completes the 5K receives a commemorative medal. Program participants and coaches are pre-registered and do not need to register; running buddies and community participants must register. Online registration opens March 29, 2027, closes at 10pm on the Wednesday before the event, and day of registration is available at a higher fee. Dogs are not permitted on CVE grounds. Merchandise will be available for purchase on site.
Safety measures include required race bibs, course monitoring with sweepers who follow the last participant, and a council safety plan used to train staff and volunteers. The council can create an accessible route and provides designated parking. Volunteers support setup, registration, course positions, water stations, cheer stations, and activity stations such as happy hair or face painting; volunteers are required to complete a background check.
