Essex Celebratory 5K : Girls on the Run Vermont
The Essex Celebratory 5K is the end of season event for Girls on the Run Vermont. It takes place at Champlain Valley Expo on Saturday, June 5, 2027. The event gives program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment and marks the close of the season.
The course distance is 5K (3.1 miles). The event is framed as a celebratory, noncompetitive experience where participants may walk, roll, push, run or skip at their own pace. Every registered participant who completes the 5K receives a commemorative medal. Program participants and coaches are already registered and do not need to register again; Running Buddies must register to run. Online registration opens March 29, 2027, and there is a day of registration option with higher fees.
Organizers provide safety and access measures. Race bibs are required, sweepers follow behind the last participant, and the council maintains a safety plan for staff and volunteers. Designated parking is available and an accessible route can be created for participants with disabilities.
Volunteers support setup, registration, course marshaling, water stations, cheer stations, and activity booths such as face painting and happy hair. All volunteers must complete a background check.
