Essex 5K Celebration
The Essex Celebratory 5K is the end of season event for Girls on the Run Vermont. It takes place on Saturday, June 5, 2027 at the Champlain Valley Expo and offers program participants a chance to complete a 3.1 mile course and receive a commemorative medal. The event is presented as a celebratory, non-competitive occasion intended to give participants a tangible sense of accomplishment.
Registration information is published for non-program participants. Registration opens March 29, 2027. Girls on the Run participants and coaches are already registered and do not need to register for the 5K; Running Buddies and other community runners must register separately. Registration fees vary by category, and prices increase on the day of the event. Liability waivers are required for all registrants.
The event includes additional on-site activities and services such as water stations, face painting, happy hair stations, and a merchandise booth. The course and event setup include accessibility considerations, designated accessible parking, and a disability accessible route where needed. For safety, participants must wear a race bib, course sweepers follow the last participant, and staff and volunteers operate under a safety plan. Volunteers support set-up, registration, course guidance, water and cheer stations, and similar roles; volunteers are required to complete a background check.
