Girls on the Run Philadelphia 5K Celebration
The Girls on the Run Philadelphia 5K is the season-closing celebratory run for program participants. The event is held at The Philadelphia Navy Yard in Philadelphia, PA, on December 6, 2026. The course distance is 5K (3.1 miles).
The 5K emphasizes completion and visible accomplishment; every program participant receives a commemorative medal. Program participants and coaches are pre-registered by the council and do not need to register again. Community runners, running buddies, and additional family or community members may register separately; registration fees are listed for community runners and youth community runners.
The event is presented as a non-competitive, celebratory experience. Participants may walk, run, roll, push, or skip the course at their own pace. Running buddies are designated adults or volunteers who complete the course alongside a program participant for the entire course. Service animals are permitted; other pets are not.
Safety measures include mandatory race bibs for every participant, designated parking and an accessible porta-potty at the Celebration Village area, course monitoring, and a council safety plan that trains staff and volunteers to respond to emergencies. All registrants sign liability waivers. The event runs rain or shine; organizers will communicate only in cases of dangerous weather and do not issue refunds.
Volunteering roles include bike marshal, course marshal, finish line, water stop, and celebration village support; the council reports needing over 130 volunteers.
