5K Celebration
Girls on the Run Philadelphia holds an end-of-season celebratory 5K that gives program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. The event brings together program participants, running buddies, family, and community members for a non-competitive, fun-focused 3.1 mile course at The Philadelphia Navy Yard on December 6, 2026.
Every program participant receives a commemorative medal. The council provides race bibs for all participants and pairs each participant with a running buddy who completes the course alongside them. Program participants and coaches are registered through the council and do not need separate registration; community runners and youth community runners may register for a fee.
The event includes additional activities on site such as music, games, crafts, and a merchandise booth. Volunteers are a major part of the event; the council seeks over 130 volunteers and highlights several key roles including Bike Marshal, Celebration Village, Course Marshal, Craft Corner, Finish Line, Site Support, and Water Stop. Volunteers may join as individuals or as members of a group.
Safety and accessibility measures are in place. The course is accessible for people using mobility devices, designated parking spots are available, and an accessible porta-potty is located in the Celebration Village.
