Girls on the Run Heart of Missouri 5K Celebration
The event is an end-of-season celebratory 5K held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at Stephens Park - Gordon Shelter, 2001 E Broadway, Columbia, MO 65201. The 5K is a non-competitive, community-focused closing event that gives program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. The course distance is 3.1 miles and is described as accessible for people with disabilities; designated parking spots are available at the park.
Every registered participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal. Girls on the Run program participants and coaches have already been registered through the program and should not register again here. Community members, family, and friends may participate but must register separately. All registrations include a liability waiver.
The council assigns a running buddy for participants, and running buddies may be parents or other designated adults. For safety each participant must wear a race bib; the council monitors the course, conducts head counts, and has a safety plan that trains staff and volunteers to respond to emergencies. Volunteers support many event tasks including set-up and tear down, registration, course marshals, running buddies, water stations, cheer stations, and face-painting or happy hair stations. Merchandise will be available for purchase at the event. Parking is available in the park and attendees are advised to arrive early to warm up and check in.
