Girls on the Run Greater Houston 5K Celebration
The event is a season-closing celebratory 5K held at Rice University in Houston on November 7, 2026. The course is 3.1 miles and is presented as a noncompetitive, celebratory event where participants may walk, run, push, or roll at their own pace. Crossing the finish line is intended to give program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment; every registered participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal.
Registration for the event follows tiered pricing: early bird online registration from August 1 to October 10 is $25, general online registration from October 10 to November 6 at 3 PM is $40, and race day in-person registration on November 7 is $50. Program participants and coaches are already registered through the program and do not need to register again. All registrants must sign a liability waiver and wear a race bib provided by the council.
The event site offers free parking near the race site with entry to Lots 13A and 13B from Greenbriar, and designated accessible parking spots are available. The council monitors the course, conducts head counts, and maintains a safety plan for staff and volunteers. Volunteers assist with setup, registration, course marshals, running buddies, water stations, cheer stations, and activity stations; volunteers appointed by the council undergo a background check and may attend virtual orientations the week before the event.
