About the race
Girls on the Run Greater Houston holds a Fall Season celebratory 5K at Rice University in Houston, Texas. The event on November 7, 2026 ends the season and provides program participants with a tangible sense of accomplishment; every registered participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal.
The course distance is 3.1 miles and the event is organized as a fun, noncompetitive celebration. The fastest participants may complete the course in about 25 minutes, while most finish between 30 and 50 minutes. The council describes the course as accessible for people with disabilities and notes that participants can walk, run, push or roll at their own pace. Designated parking spots are available and free parking is provided near the site; enter Parking Lots 13A and 13B from Greenbriar.
Registration follows tiered pricing: early bird registration from August 1 to October 10 is $25, general registration from October 10 to November 6 is $40, and race day in-person registration on November 7 is $50. Program participants and coaches are already registered through the council and do not need to register again. Liability waivers are required for all registrants.
Safety measures include required race bibs, course monitoring with head counts, and a council safety plan for staff and volunteers. Volunteer roles include setup and tear down, registration, course marshals, running buddies, water and cheer stations, and activity stations; volunteers appointed through the council undergo background checks and attend virtual orientations the week before the event.
