5K Celebration - Confidence through Accomplishment
Girls on the Run Northwest Arkansas closes each season with a celebratory 5K that gives program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. The event scheduled for November 14, 2026 takes place in Bentonville, AR and uses a standard 5K (3.1 miles) course.
The 5K is framed as a non-competitive, end-of-season event. Participants are encouraged to walk, run, roll, push or skip at their own pace. Every registered participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal and a t-shirt while supplies last. Registered non-program family and community members may also participate but must register.
The council provides safety measures including race bibs for all participants, running buddies for participants throughout the course, monitored course head counts, a safety plan for staff and volunteers, and designated accessible parking. Running buddies are adults or other designated individuals who complete the 5K alongside a participant for the full distance; parent or guardian running buddies are encouraged.
Volunteer roles support the event and include packet pickup, set-up and tear down, site helpers, happy hair station, water stations, cheer squad and a GOTR booth.
