Gilles-Sweet Elementary Derby Dash
The Gilles-Sweet Elementary Derby Dash is an annual community running event held in Fairview Park, Ohio. Taking place at Fairview High School, the event offers two distinct distances for participants to choose from:
- 5K
- 1 Mile
The 5K race features electronic timing using the MyLaps BibTag system. The course for the 5K is scheduled to remain open for one hour. Participants can choose between in-person or virtual pre-registration options. Registration fees are tiered based on age, with specific pricing for adults and children aged 13 and under. Families consisting of four or more members are eligible for a registration discount.
Participants who complete their registration by the designated mid-April deadline are guaranteed an event T-shirt. Those who register after this date will find shirt sizes and quantities subject to availability. Beyond the commemorative shirt, all entrants receive post-race food and beverages.
Awards are categories specifically for the 5K race. Recognition is given to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three male and female runners across various age divisions ranging from 10 and under to 70 and over. Race-day activities, including packet pickup, are centered around the football stadium main entrance, with an indoor backup location at the Mayer Middle School gym in the event of inclement weather.
