Gettysburg Festival of Races
The Gettysburg Festival of Races is a multi-distance running event held in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, featuring three distinct races organized over a single weekend. The course is situated just south of the main portion of the Gettysburg Battlefield and utilizes wooded back-country roads that pass through fields and farms.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 26.2 Miles (North-South Marathon)
- 13.1 Miles (Blue-Gray Half Marathon)
- 5K (2L Race Services 5K)
The 13.1 Miles course crosses the historic Mason-Dixon line into Maryland before returning to Pennsylvania. The 26.2 Miles marathon consists of a double loop of the half marathon course, which provides spectators with multiple opportunities to view the participants. Runners in the marathon have the option to change to the half marathon mid-race, provided they notify the timers.
The 5K event is designed as a simple out-and-back course. While the 5K is described as family-friendly, the organizers do not allow strollers or dogs on the course. In addition to the races, a health and fitness event featuring local vendors takes place on the Saturday prior to the Sunday competitions.
