About the race
A Gerês Extreme Marathon is organised by Carlos Sá Nature Events with the support of the Câmara Municipal de Terras de Bouro. The event takes place around Vila do Gerês and surrounding points, with some races starting or involving the Museu da Geira and the Central Hidroelétrica de Vilarinho das Furnas.
Races scheduled across the event weekend include:
- Extreme Mile
- Extreme 90k
- Marathon 42 km
- Marathon 42 km relay (teams of 3)
- Half Marathon 21 km
- Race 12 km
- Mini race 14 km
For the Marathon relay, teams are composed of three athletes; each athlete runs roughly one third of the distance. Choice of relay segments may be made on race day by the team without prior notice to the organiser. The organisation can provide bus transfers to the transition points and to the finish for athletes of the first and second relay segments, if requested.
An expo area and race secretariat operate during the event weekend. Results from previous editions are published by the organiser. The programme includes award ceremonies for each race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
