George Freedom Days Run
George Freedom Days Run is held in George, Iowa, with the start and finish located in Locker Park near 101 E. Dakota Ave. The event uses the George Recreational Trail for most of the route and is intended to showcase the local trail system. Proceeds go to the improvement and maintenance of the trail system.
Available distances:
- 5K run/walk on the city recreational trail.
- 1.25 mile untimed leisure walk on the north portion of the trail.
The majority of the 5K route follows the city trail; only the first half mile is on city streets. The course is mostly flat with a few minor hills. The trail passes through residential areas, a campground, wooded sections, and open fields, offering varied scenery along the route.
The 1.25 mile walk starts with the 5K group and then veers off to follow the north portion of the George Recreational Trail, finishing at the 5K finish line. The walk is untimed. Finishers of the walk receive a t-shirt and refreshments. Registration is offered for both events with a registration fee of $19.00 and defined registration open and close dates.
