Geoff Day Memorial 5k
The Geoff Day Memorial 5k is an annual race organised by Great Bentley Running Club in memory of Geoff Day (1968–2010). The event for 2026 is scheduled for Sunday 8 July and is presented as a special club memorial race over a 5 kilometre distance.
A trophy donated by Alan Day will be awarded to the fastest first claim Great Bentley runner. Club rules state that only first claim members are eligible for the awards and trophies. The event is presented with a focus on the club community, with an acknowledgement of past and present members.
Background material supplied by Alan Day accompanies the memorial event. This includes a brief history, newspaper extracts and scrapbook items, a picture and cutting from a 1999 London Marathon entry, and a list of some of Geoff Day’s races showing times and positions.
