Gene's Run
Current and prospective participants can take part in a multi-day event held in the historic Greenmont neighborhood of Morgantown, West Virginia. The weekend features various running categories centered around a local beer garden and the surrounding residential areas.
The event offerings include:
- 1 Mile individual Beer Mile
- 1 Mile Beer Mile Relay for teams of two or four
- 3.35 Miles (Gene's '44)
- 4.1 Miles (Gene's Supreme)
- 5 km (Gene's 5k)
The initial evening of the event focuses on the beer mile distances, which participants can complete as individuals or in a relay format. The following morning consists of a 5 km race. This route guides runners through the historic neighborhoods of Greenmont and South Park.
Post-race celebrations occur at a local garden, and a community block party takes place on the Saturday evening. The event is organized to support the local community, with proceeds benefiting Empty Bowls of Monongalia County.
