Gem of the Highlands 5K and Fundraiser
The Gem of the Highlands is an annual community 5K run and fundraiser held in Norwood on November 7, 2026. The event is in its eighth year and runs through the presidential district of Norwood, including Wasson Way. The course begins at Floral Ave and Washington Ave.
The event program includes:
- 5K road run and walk
- Kids Fun Run free for children
Packet pick-up locations are listed as To Be Announced. Registered participants receive a goodie bag that includes a race t-shirt and additional items. A block party follows the event.
The race is organized by a resident-founded, registered 501(c)(3) with a stated mission to build community and support municipal needs. Organizers report that 100% of proceeds go back to municipal initiatives with a focus on Norwood parks. To date the event has donated nearly $105,000 and the organizers hope to raise over $50,000 for the current year. An earlier project funded by the event provided $16,000 for basketball court restoration at Waterworks Park.
