Gem of the Highlands 5K and Fundraiser
The Gem of the Highlands Run/Walk is the eighth annual community event scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026 in Norwood. The course begins at Floral Ave and Washington Ave and passes through the presidential district of Norwood, including Wasson Way. A block party will follow the run.

The event operates as a registered 501(c)(3) with a stated mission to build community and fund neighborhood improvements. Organizers report that 100 percent of proceeds go to municipal needs and initiatives that benefit the community, with an emphasis on Norwood parks. To date, the project has donated nearly $105,000 and previously funded a $16,000 restoration of the basketball court at Waterworks Park. Organizers indicate a target to raise over $50,000 for the current year.
Practical details posted by the organizers note a packet pick-up location to be announced. Registered participants are to receive a goodie bag that includes a race t-shirt and additional items.
