Gecko Rock Trail Run
Gecko Rock Trail Run is hosted on the private Gecko Rock nature reserve in the Nougaspoort Valley near Touwsriver, Breede River DC, Western Cape. The course runs through Klein Karoo vegetation, including renosterbos, and passes areas with free roaming game and open valleys.
The event is part of the Montagu Winter Trail Running Series, a six venue series where participants can enter multiple events, collect medals for completing the series, and receive a series entry discount and a series running cap for full series entrants.
Routes at Gecko Rock include a fun run, trail runs and walks. The fun run route was altered to be more friendly to walkers: the first section follows a jeep track and then joins the single track used by the longer trail run, avoiding the more technical rocky kloof section. The trail runs include single track and jeep track sections, with some rocky stretches on the longer course and more undulating jeep track elsewhere.
