Run For The Water - Austin
Run For The Water is an annual fundraising race held in downtown Austin each November. The 2026 event marks the 20th anniversary and is scheduled for Sunday, November 8, 2026. Historically the event draws over 5,000 runners and walkers.
The course moves from downtown through west Austin and Tarrytown, traversing hills and finishing on a flat section designed for faster times. The event is described as Austin’s largest fall downtown waterfront race and the only 10 miler in the area. The organizer notes the race has received regional recognition in reader polls.
The event supports a water access mission in Burundi. One hundred percent of event proceeds are directed back to that mission, which funds building water systems that aim to improve health, education, and economic opportunities for communities in Burundi.
A timed Hill Challenge takes place on a 600 meter segment of the 10 miler. Participation in the Hill Challenge is automatic for all 10 miler entrants, and winners are recognized at a Winner’s Circle.
Available race distances include:
- 10 Miler
- 5K
- Kids K
The event combines urban and waterfront scenery with an organized fundraising purpose to support clean water projects abroad. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
