Run For The Water, Austin
Run For The Water is an annual fundraising road race held in downtown Austin. The event takes place on Sunday, November 8, 2026, and is organized by the Gazelle Foundation. All event proceeds are directed back toward the foundation's mission to build water systems in Burundi.
The event offers multiple race distances:
- 10 Miler
- 5K
- Kids K
The course travels from downtown toward west Austin and Tarrytown, combining hilly sections and waterfront segments. The finish is designed to be flat. A timed Hill Challenge covers a 600 meter segment of the 10 Miler; participation in the challenge is automatic for all 10 Miler entrants and winners are recognized at a Winner’s Circle.
Fundraising is focused on improving access to clean water in Burundi. The event materials state that campaigns supported by the race aim to shorten the distance people must walk for water, with examples showing reductions from four miles to 400 meters. The event includes race information, course maps, participant guides, and fundraising options as part of its organization. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
