Gaston Lions Club 5k Run/Walk
The Gaston Lions Club hosts its annual 5k Run and Walk in Gaston, Indiana. The event features a course that begins at the intersection of South Washington and Vine Streets and concludes at the Gaston Lions Club Park. The route takes participants through the town of Gaston, south along the Cardinal Greenway, and through local county roads. The course is described as mostly flat with several straight sections.
Participants can choose from the following events:
- 5k Run
- 5k Walk
- Kids Fun Run (approximately a quarter mile)
Logistical support is provided through a shuttle service between the Gaston Lions Club Park and the starting area. The course features mile markers placed every half mile along the side of the path, and one to two water stations are available depending on weather conditions. Members of the Gaston Lions Club or police officers are stationed at each turn to assist with navigation.
Participants who register in advance receive a T-shirt, and snacks and drinks are provided at the finish line. Awards are presented to the top three finishers in eleven different age groups for both male and female categories, as well as to the overall winners of the run.
