Gaston Lions Club 5K Run and Walk
The Gaston Lions Club 5K Run and Walk is an organized community 5-kilometer event in Gaston, Indiana, with separate running and walking entries and a free kids fun run afterward. Registration is open from March 4, 2026 to July 29, 2026; preregistered runners and walkers will receive a T-shirt, with race day shirts possibly limited. Registration fees listed are $18.00 for the 5k run and $15.00 for the 5k walk.
The course begins in the town of Gaston, follows South Washington and Vine Streets through town, continues south on the Cardinal Greenway, east onto Country Road 750 N, then north on County Road 450 W, and finishes at Gaston Lions Club Park at 7449 W. CR 850 N. The route is mostly flat with many straight sections. Mile markers are placed every half mile on the side of the trail or road rather than on the trail surface.
Turn marshals and police officers will staff route turns. One or two water stations may be available on the course depending on race day temperature. Snacks and drinks are provided at the finish area. Awards are given to the top three finishers in each of eleven age groups for male and female competitors, plus overall male and female winners. A shuttle service is available for participant needs linked to start and finish locations. A free kids fun run of about a quarter mile is held at the finish park and all participating children receive an award. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
