The Gaspee Days 5k Foot Race is a community 5-kilometer road race held in Cranston, Rhode Island, at 2052 Broad St. The race takes place immediately before the Gaspee Days Parade and donates its proceeds to support the parade. The field is capped at 2,000 participants and race-day registrations are not allowed.
Course and logistics
The course covers 5K (3.1 miles). It starts on Broad Street at Chiswick Road, runs south into Warwick onto Narragansett Parkway, turns at General Hawkins Drive, and returns north to finish just past the parade reviewing stand at Rhodes Place. The course was bicycle calibrated and timing and results are provided by Spitler Race Systems. There is a strict one-hour cut-off for completing the course. Pre-race bib pick-up is held at the Aspray Boat House and race check-in is at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center; a photo ID is required for pick-up or pickup-by-proxy. Portable restrooms are provided for participants only. Strollers, baby carriers, and pets are prohibited in the race area. Parking is limited.
Prizes and records
Cash grand prizes are awarded for top overall finishers: $500 for first place, $400 second, $300 third, $200 fourth, and $100 fifth. Age-group first-place winners receive $50.
