Garden of Wales Duathlon
The Garden of Wales Duathlon serves as the final event of the Spring Duathlon Series and is held within the National Botanic Garden of Wales in Llanarthne. The event features a multicourse format that transitions between off-road running and on-road cycling. The race center, including the transition area and athlete facilities, is located behind the main building and Botanica Cafe.
The event consists of three stages:
- 5 km Run: A trail loop conducted on mixed surfaces including tarmac paths, compacted gravel, and woodland tracks with an elevation gain of 90 m.
- 30 km Bike: A road cycling loop through the Carmarthenshire countryside featuring rolling hills and an elevation gain of 400 m.
- 5 km Run: A second instance of the trail loop through the estate parkland and wooded valleys.
The run course remains within the landscaped grounds of the estate, utilizing a network of woodland trails and paths with occasional short climbs. The cycling portion follows quiet rural roads surrounding the property, presenting a mix of flowing stretches and more notable ascents in the latter stages.
Athlete services include chip timing, a marshalled course, and water stations located on each lap of the run and at the finish line. Participants receive an event t-shirt and have access to on-site parking at the National Botanic Garden. A secure baggage marquee and toilet facilities are available near the transition area.
