Galtymore Uphill : event description
The Galtymore Uphill is an open mountain uphill race held on Wednesday 10 June 2026. The course runs from Kings yard, Knocknagalty, Kilbehenny to the summit of Galty Mór over rugged, open mountain terrain.
The route distance is 6.00 km with a total climb of 750 m. The route is not marked and GPS devices are not permitted. The event is part of the Munster Uphill League and has an entry limit of 250 competitors.
Mandatory Level B kit is required: a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, a charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket, bivvy bag or equivalent. Competitors should have the means to carry all required kit. The specific kit to be carried during the race may be finalised on the day depending on conditions. Failure to have the required items may lead to denial of entry or disqualification; random kit checks may be carried out.
Entries open 8 June 2026 and close 10 June 2026. Entry fees are €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. There are no junior races and no early start. Prizegiving will take place at Kings yard, Knocknagalty, Kilbehenny. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
