Event overview

The Aherlow 50k is scheduled for Saturday 7 March 2026 in County Tipperary. The race distance is 50.00 km with a total climb of 1200 m. The event is part of the Munster Ultra League and GPS devices are allowed. Race marking is limited to only major junctions.

Course and logistics

The route follows winding forest trails and fire road trails zig zagging across Sliabh na Muck to Bansha woods and back. Drop bag and aid stations are located at approximately 12 km, 21 km, 25 km and 45 km. Water-only stations are at about 29 km and 40 km. The event assembly point is at Aherlow GAA Club / Lisvernane National School, Ballycrehane, Aherlow, Co. Tipperary. Prizegiving will take place at Lisvernane community center.

Safety, kit and rules

The event difficulty is rated 7 (3,2,2) - Difficult Terrain, 200M-500M ascent, 6Km-10Km. Mandatory kit is Level C - Advanced and includes a waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with emergency number stored, foil blanket or bivvy bag, waterproof full leg cover, means to carry at least 500 mL water, emergency food, map and compass. Organisers require a shower- and wind-proof jacket to be carried for the entire race; failure to carry required items may lead to denial of entry or disqualification.
