About the race
Galtymore is an open mountain race in County Tipperary that follows a self-navigation route over rough terrain with steep ascent and descent. The course takes runners up and over Cush mountain, then over Galty Beg to Galty Mór before returning the same way. The route is not marked and GPS use is not allowed. The race covers 13.00 km with approximately 1300 m of climb and is classified at the highest difficulty level.
Entries are scheduled to open on Monday 17 August 2026 and close on Saturday 22 August 2026. Entry fees are listed as €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. The event is included in the Munster Championship and the Irish Championship.
Organisers require Level C mandatory kit to be carried; this includes a waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with emergency number stored, foil blanket or bivvy bag, waterproof full leg cover, means to carry at least 500 mL of water, emergency food, map of the route/area, and a compass. The specific kit to be carried on race day may be finalised at registration.
Parking and registration take place in the field at the bottom of the Cush road with volunteer stewards directing arrivals. Juniors are asked to enter and run the Cush race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
