Galtymore
Galtymore is an open mountain race in County Tipperary held on Sunday 23 August 2026. The race goes to the top of Galtymore and returns over the peaks of Cush and Galtybeg. Distances offered include:
- 13.00 km with 1300 m climb
- 5.00 km short course to the top of Cush and back
The route is not marked and requires self-navigation. Terrain is rough with steep ascent and descent. GPS use is allowed. The event is classed as Extreme.
Parking and registration take place in the field at the bottom of the Cush road and will be managed by volunteer stewards.
Entry fee is €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Entries open Monday 17 August 2026 and close Saturday 22 August 2026. There are 250 places; currently 0 entered.
Mandatory kit is Level C - Advanced and includes a waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile with emergency number stored, foil blanket or bivvy bag, waterproof full leg cover, means to carry at least 500 mL water, emergency food, map and compass. The final kit to be carried may be confirmed at registration. Failure to carry required items may result in denied entry or disqualification and random checks may be carried out.
