Galty Crossing
Galty Crossing is a mountain running event organised by the Irish Mountain Running Association in County Tipperary. The course distance is approximately 32.00 km with around 1500 m of climb. The event difficulty is rated Extreme and the route is not marked; GPS use is allowed.
All competitors must carry mandatory Level C kit. Required items include a waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, foil blanket or bivvy bag, waterproof full leg cover, means to carry at least 500 mL of water, emergency food, map of the route or area, and a compass. The exact kit to be carried may be finalised on the day and will be advised at registration. Random kit checks may be carried out and failure to have required items can lead to denial of entry or disqualification.
Entry details list an entry fee of €60. Places are limited to 100 and are shown as full; entries are closed. The route description names multiple high points and features encountered on course, including Temlehill, Lyracappul Wall, Wall Corner, Galty Mór Cross, Galty Beag High Point, Greeaun Cairn, Fearbreaga rocky outcrop, Slieve an Airde fence, and the Bane trig point.
