Galty Crossing
Galty Crossing is a mountain running event in County Tipperary on Saturday 6 June 2026. The course distance is approximately 32.00 km with about 1500 m of total climb. The route is not marked and GPS use is permitted. The event is rated 10 Extreme, defined as more than 1,000 m ascent or more than 30 km.
The listed entry fee is €60 and entries close Friday 5 June 2026. At the time of listing 71 of 100 places have been entered.
Mandatory Level C kit is required and must be carried. The required items include a waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams; hat or buff; gloves; whistle; charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored; a foil blanket, bivvy bag or equivalent; waterproof full leg cover; means to carry at least 500 mL of water; emergency food; a map of the route or area; and a compass. The actual kit to be carried during the race will be finalised on the day and clearly advised at registration. Failure to have the required items may lead to denial of entry or disqualification and random checks may be carried out.
The route passes named features such as Temlehill, Lyracappul Wall, Wall Corner, Galty Mór Cross, Galty Beag high point, Greeaun Cairn, Fearbreaga rocky outcrop, Slieve an Airde fence, Bane trig point and the Hammerhead entrance into a forest fire road.
