Fei Sheehy Challenge
The Fei Sheehy Challenge is a three-day hillwalking event held over three consecutive days in August 2026. It is organised by Na Sléibhte Hillwalking Club and supported by private sponsors and the hill walking community. The event is endorsed by Mountaineering Ireland.
Participants navigate and travel independently; the event is self-navigation and self-reliance only and no walk leaders are provided. Competent use of personal mountain skills is encouraged. Minimum age to take part is 18 years.
The cumulative route over the three days is about 92 km with approximately 4,200 m of ascent and descent. Distances and ascent for each day are:
- Comeragh Mountains: 32 km, 1400 m ascent
- Galty Mountains: 30 km, 1700 m ascent
- Knockmealdown Mountains: 30 km, 1100 m ascent
Entry options are Single Crossing, Double Crossing, or Treble Crossing, allowing participants to do one, two, or all three days. Entry fees were set by the organisers. The event has a charitable aim and raises funds for voluntary and charitable organisations in memory of a young person. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
