Frozen Foot Challenge Adventure Race
The Frozen Foot Challenge Adventure Race is a two-day event on March 6–7, 2027 at Pocahontas State Park, 10301 State Park Rd, Chesterfield, VA. The event uses park mountain bike trails and nearby woods for off-trail navigation and trekking.
Racing options include a 5 hour and a 10 hour event on Saturday and a 4 hour Family Adventure Scramble on Sunday. Courses include mountain bike sections and trekking only. The park features IMBA Bronze mountain bike trails and sections of fast, flowy singletrack, plus off-trail foot navigation through open woods with small rolling hills. The 10 hour event covers longer distances and a more involved course design, while the 5 hour event is part of the Virginia State Parks Adventure Series. Families compete in a choose-your-own-adventure format during the Family Adventure Scramble; the course is open for four hours, families may start at any time within that window, the event is priced per family, and there are no awards for that scramble.
Event services and features include race swag (custom racer arm sleeves, t-shirt, eco-friendly slate medals), electronic epunching, GPS trackers, post race food, and a post-event bonfire. A two hour Adventure Racing Clinic is offered on Friday in conjunction with early packet pick-up and uses in-person race maps. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
