About the race
The Frightwood event in Wrightwood, California, on October 24, 2026, includes a Halloween-themed community run with multiple race options. The main event is the 5K course through the town on paved roads. The course is described as stroller-friendly but hilly. Friendly ghouls and costumed characters appear along the 5K course; these haunts are not placed on the children's courses.
Event services include participant t-shirts, a safety team, course volunteers, awards, and on-course photo opportunities. Awards are given for 1st through 3rd place, overall male and female winners, and a set of age-group awards. Age groups include 5-10, 11-13, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and over 60. There is a teams category for 5K teams of four with male, female, and coed divisions.
Proceeds from the event are donated to local community organizations, including Wrightwood CERT, the Serrano High School Drama Department, and Wrightwood Elementary School's Raccoon Running Club.
