Friends of McCormick's Creek 5K Run/Walk
The Friends of McCormick's Creek host their 20th annual road race on Saturday, April 18, 2026. This sporting event is part of the Mag 7 Series Race and takes place within McCormick's Creek State Park in Spencer. The course features a road surface characterized by rolling hills and is designed for both runners and walkers.
The event offers two main categories:
- 5K Run
- 5K Walk
Packet pick-up is located at the Nature Center on the morning of the event. Participants who complete their registration by April 3, 2026, receive a race shirt, while shirts for those registering after this date are provided while supplies last. Registration on the day of the race is conducted at the Nature Center and is restricted to cash or check payments only.
The event concludes with an awards ceremony and refreshments. Overall prizes are awarded to the top male and female finishers in both the run and walk categories. Specifically, awards are given to the top two age group winners for the 5K Run and the first-place age group winners for the 5K Walk. A post-race breakfast featuring pancakes and sausage is available for an additional fee if purchased in advance. Proceeds from the event are dedicated to supporting projects that preserve and restore the natural and cultural heritage of McCormick's Creek State Park.
