Freedom Run Backyard Ultra and 5K : Goodridge, MN
The Freedom Run takes place in Goodridge, Minnesota as part of the Goodridge Veterans Freedom Festival. The event includes a community 5K run/walk and a new Backyard Ultra endurance race that support the Warrior Trail Foundation, a nonprofit that helps veterans through trail running.
Distances:
- 5K run/walk supporting veterans.
- Backyard Ultra uses a 4.167 mile loop each hour; 24 hour finishers earn an award.
The 5K begins alongside the Backyard Ultra and requires participants to turn around on course to complete the 5K route. The 5K will have no awards but organizers will track runners and race times. Pre-registration is appreciated but not required. Registrations received by July 13 are guaranteed a T-shirt; later registrations are not guaranteed a shirt.
The Backyard Ultra follows a single-loop format that starts and finishes near A.C. Tvedt Park. Runners must complete the loop each hour and be present in the starting corral at the top of each hour. Crews are permitted. Runners must provide their own nutrition and supplies; a designated area will be available for chairs, coolers, small items, and tents. The race continues until only one runner remains; runners who stop receive a DNF with total distance recorded. A more detailed runner guide will be provided to Backyard Ultra registrants.
