Freedom Run 5K - Springfield
The Freedom Run 5K takes place in Springfield, Kentucky on July 4, 2026. The event is presented as an inaugural community road race that honors first responders who serve Springfield and Washington County. The entry fee is $25 and registration opens April 11, 2026 and closes July 4, 2026. Runners registered by June 22, 2026 receive a race t-shirt.
The course distance is 3.1 Miles and both the start and finish are located in historic downtown Springfield in front of the courthouse on Main Street. The route runs through town, turns onto Walnut Street, enters Idle Hour Park via the pedestrian entrance, follows the park perimeter walking path, exits onto KY 555, climbs along Lincoln Park Road to Mays Avenue, and returns to Main Street via Locust Street.
Awards include medals for the top three overall male and female finishers and age group medals for top finishers in these divisions: 9-12, 13-17, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-54, and 55 and over. Registered teams compete for trophies in three categories: Hometown Hero, Most Patriotic, and Most Abraham Lincolns.
