Freedom Run 5K - Springfield
The Freedom Run 5K takes place in Springfield, Kentucky on July 4, 2027. The event recognizes and honors the first responders who serve Springfield and Washington County. The course begins and ends in historic downtown Springfield in front of the courthouse on Main Street and passes through town before heading onto Walnut Street and into Idle Hour Park via the pedestrian entrance.
Inside the park the route follows the outer perimeter walking path and exits onto KY 555. The course includes a sustained climb along Lincoln Park Road to Mays Avenue, then turns onto Locust Street and returns to Main Street for the finish. Participants may walk, run, roll, or stroll; stroller use is mentioned in the event details.
Registration opens August 4, 2026 and closes July 4, 2027. The registration fee is $25.00. Runners registered by June 22, 2027 will receive a race t shirt. Awards include medals for the top three overall male and female finishers and age group medals for these divisions: 9 to 12, 13 to 17, 18 to 24, 25 to 29, 30 to 34, 35 to 39, 40 to 44, 45 to 54, and 55 and over.
Registered teams can compete for trophies in three categories: Hometown Hero, Most Patriotic, and Most Abraham Lincolns. The Hometown Hero team award includes a donation to the charity chosen by the winning team. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
