Freedom for Fighters 5K Walk/Run - Mountain Home, ID

The Freedom for Fighters 9th Annual Event to End Silent Suffering is a community 5K Walk/Run held in Mountain Home, Idaho on June 13, 2026. The event honors people who are crushed in spirit, specifically those living with PTSD and depression, and is presented in partnership with the City of Mountain Home.

All participants have the option to start the route carrying a new backpack filled with donated canned goods. The packed backpack represents the heavy weights that some people carry. Along the course, checkpoints allow participants to unload portions of that weight one stop at a time. Participants are expected to be free of donated weight at least a quarter mile from the finish so the final leg can be completed without the extra load. Finish-line crossing is celebrated for all participants, reflecting the event theme of finishing the race rather than racing to the finish.

Proceeds from the event will go to charitable organizations that support veterans, first responders, and abuse victims, and toward the future construction of a healing ranch intended to provide holistic care for those who are crushed in spirit. A limited number of backpacks and canned goods will be available at the start for participants who cannot bring their own. All backpack and food donations will be distributed to local charitable organizations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
