Freedom Run - America's Freedom Festival
The Freedom Run is an annual race that is part of America’s Freedom Festival, held on July 4 in Kiwanis Park, Provo, Utah. The event attracts large numbers of participants and includes multiple race options to coincide with Independence Day activities.
Distances:
- 10K
- 5K
- Mayor’s one mile Fun Run
Packet pickup is held on July 3 at the Provo Recreation Center multi-purpose room. Runners receive a bib with a built-in timing chip, a race shirt, a finisher medal, and possible additional swag. ID is required for packet pickup; family members may collect packets for others but must sign for the goods. Shirts and other goodies are distributed only at packet pickup.
The 10K course includes two on-course water stations located just after the 3 mile and 5 mile marks. Timing chips are attached to the bib and are intended to be worn on the front layer of clothing for best results. Strollers are allowed but must start with other wheeled devices after runners; bicycles, unicycles, and other wheeled devices are not permitted on the course.
Awards include cash prizes for the top three male and female finishers in the 5K and 10K and age-group awards across standard age brackets. Parking and access to the start area are affected by road closures; approach from the west and north of the BYU campus or use neighborhood parking north and east of Kiwanis Park.
