Freedom Run
The Freedom Run is part of America’s Freedom Festival and is held on July 4 in Provo, Utah, with activities centered at Kiwanis Park. The event includes multiple race distances:
- 10K
- 5K
- 1 mile Mayor’s Fun Run
Start locations are specified for each distance: the 5K starts at the corner of 800 N and 150 E near Brick Oven Pizza, the 10K starts on Birch Avenue at the north end of Kiwanis Park, and the 1 mile starts inside Kiwanis Park. All races finish at the park entrance.
Packet pickup is scheduled the day before the race at the Provo Recreation Center multi-purpose room. Runners receive a bib with a timing chip attached, a race shirt, and a finisher medal at packet pickup; photo ID is required and others may pick up packets for family members with a signature. Online and in-person registration follow specified deadlines and in-person registration is available only during the packet pickup session.
Race operations note that the 10K has two on-course water stations, timing chips are embedded in the bib and should be visible on the front clothing layer, and strollers must start with other wheeled devices after runners. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the 5K and 10K, and age group awards are offered across standard age categories. Volunteers assist with packet setup, race operations, and post-race duties around the event dates. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
