Freedom Run - America's Freedom Festival
Freedom Run is an annual Independence Day running event held in Provo, Utah, with start and finish activity centered at Kiwanis Park. The program includes multiple distances and a community atmosphere tied to the broader Freedom Festival on July 4.
Distances offered:
- 10K
- 5K
- Mayor's one mile Fun Run
Packet pickup is held the day before the race at the Provo Recreation Center multipurpose room. At pickup participants receive a bib with an integrated timing chip, a race shirt, a finisher medal, and any additional swag; pickup requires identification and family members may sign for another registrant. Shirts and other goodies are distributed only at packet pickup and are not guaranteed to those who miss the event.
Course and race logistics specify distinct start locations for each distance and a common finish at the entrance to Kiwanis Park. The 10K course includes two on-course water stations just after the three mile and five mile marks. Bicycles, unicycles, and other wheeled devices are not allowed on the course except for strollers, which must start with other wheeled devices behind runners. Race timing uses chips in the bib and organizers recommend wearing the bib on the front top layer.
Awards include cash prizes of $300, $200, and $100 for the top three male and female finishers in both the 5K and 10K, plus medals and age-group awards across standard age divisions. Volunteers support packet pickup, course operations, awards, and event breakdown. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
