Freedom Festival Elkhorn 5K
The Freedom Festival Elkhorn 5K is a community run/walk held in Afton, Wyoming on Friday, July 3, 2026. The event begins and ends at the World’s Largest Elkhorn Arch in downtown Afton and uses neighborhood streets for a course that is 100% paved.
Entry fees vary by date: $35.00 until May 31, $40.00 from June 1 to July 1, and $45.00 July 2 to 3. A virtual option is available for $50.00; that fee includes shipping of race swag and processing. Race T-shirts are available for $25.00 in women’s fit and unisex styles; ordering by June 15, 2026, guarantees size. A kids run is listed as TBD.
All registration is handled online. Packet pick-up and onsite registration are offered the day before at Wild Wyoming and near the Start/Finish on race day. Participants are advised that cellular and WiFi service can be unpredictable in downtown Afton.
Awards include 1st Overall Male and Female, 1st Overall Male and Female Masters (40+), and 1st Male and Female in age divisions from 19 and under through 80+. An Adaptive Athlete category is open to hand cycles, wheelchairs, limb differences, hearing impaired, vision impaired, and other mobility impairments.
Proceeds from the event are donated to Amputee Blade Runners, a nonprofit that helps provide running prosthetics for amputees. Strollers and leashed dogs are allowed; participants are asked to start at the back and to pick up after their dogs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
