Freedom Festival Elkhorn 5K Run/Walk
The Freedom Festival Elkhorn 5K is a charity road run and walk held in downtown Afton, Wyoming as part of the local Freedom Festival. The event benefits the Amputee Blade Runners, a nonprofit that provides running prosthetics to amputees.
The course starts and finishes at the World’s Largest Elkhorn Arch and runs through neighborhood streets on a 100% paved surface. The event offers both an in-person 5K and a virtual option; the virtual entry includes shipping for race swag and processing.
Entry fees vary by registration date: $35.00 until May 31, $40.00 from June 1 to July 1, and $45.00 July 2-3. Virtual entry is $45.00. Race T-shirts are available for $25.00 in women’s fit and unisex styles; ordering during registration by May 31, 2026, guarantees size. A small kids run is offered with no entry fee; donations to the benefit organization are encouraged.
Awards recognize 1st overall male and female and 1st overall masters (40+), plus 1st male and female in age divisions from 19 and under through 80+. An Adaptive Athlete division is included for hand cycles, wheelchairs, limb differences, vision impairment, and other mobility impairments.
Participants are entered in a post-race raffle held with the awards ceremony; winners must be present. Packet pick-up and onsite registration are scheduled the day before and the morning of the event at local packet locations. Strollers and leashed dogs are permitted; participants are asked to position them toward the back and to clean up after pets. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
