Freedom Classic 5K (All Ages)
The Freedom Classic is a certified USATF 5K held in Mundelein, Illinois. The course runs along Recreation Drive, passes through Loch Lomond, and finishes at Keith Mione Community Park. The event uses professional chip timing provided by a new timing company.
Registration is offered at tiered rates: a discount price before June 1, a regular price from June 1 to July 3, and a day-of registration option at the Dolan Recreation Center. The first 550 participants will receive a race t-shirt; other participants may claim shirts in the weeks after the race. Registration by June 1 guarantees race shirt size.
Awards include a $100 cash prize for the first overall male and female finishers and medals for first through third place in each age group. All fees are non-refundable in the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances; registrants agree to this policy.
Packet pickup is available in the days before the race at the Mundelein Park and Recreation District office at 1401 N. Midlothian Road and on race day at the Dolan Recreation Center, 888 Dunbar Road. A free Firecracker Kids Fun Run for ages 10 and under takes place the same morning; participants receive a freeze pop and a medal and no registration is required. A limited edition kids race t-shirt will be available for purchase with proceeds benefiting the Mundelein Parks Foundation for programming scholarships.
