Freedom Classic 5K (All Ages)
The Freedom Classic is a community 5K held on a certified USATF course. The route leaves Recreation Drive, passes through scenic Loch Lomond, and finishes at Keith Mione Community Park. The race uses a new timing company and is professionally chip timed.
Registration and race entries follow published fees. Regular registration price for the 5K between June 1 and July 3 is $45; day of registration is $55 at the Dolan Recreation Center front desk. The first 550 registered participants will receive a race t-shirt; registrations made by June 1 are guaranteed a preferred size. Packet pick-up is available before race day at the Mundelein Park & Recreation District office on N. Midlothian Road and on race day at the Dolan Recreation Center, 888 Dunbar Road, Mundelein.
Awards include a $100 cash prize for the first overall male and female finishers and medals for first through third place in each age group. All fees are non refundable in the event of inclement weather or other circumstances beyond organizer control.
A free Firecracker Kids Fun Run is offered for ages 10 and under. No registration is required for the kids run; participants receive a medal and a freeze pop. Limited edition kids t-shirts are available for purchase for $10, with proceeds benefiting the Mundelein Parks Foundation for program scholarships.
