Freedom Celebration 5K Race and Youth Run : Champaign, IL
The event on July 4, 2026 takes place along Kirby Avenue in Champaign, Illinois, between the State Farm Center and Gies Memorial Stadium. It includes a 1K youth run and two 5K events - a run and a walk.

The 5K course starts and finishes on Kirby Avenue between the State Farm Center and Gies Memorial Stadium, proceeds east on Kirby/Florida Avenues, then north on Lincoln Avenue to approximately West California Avenue before returning to the finish. There will be two water stations on the 5K course. All proceeds support the Champaign County Freedom Celebration.
Registration opens April 1, 2026. 5K registration closes June 25, 2026; youth registration remains available on race day until the organizer’s on-site cutoff. Registration is online only; there will be no paper sign-up and no cash or checks accepted.
Packet pick-up is available at Body n Sole Sports, 1317 N. Dunlap Avenue, Savoy, IL on Friday, July 3 from Noon to 6:00 PM, and at the start/finish area on July 4 during morning packet distribution. Awards are given to overall male and female winners, top three male and female in specified age groups, and the top five walkers. Awards must be collected in person and will not be mailed. Race day parking is on the east side of the State Farm Center in Lots E5 and F5, with access from Fourth St. For the youth run, an adult may run with each youth without registering. Youth participants do not receive bibs or packets. Shirt orders require registration and payment by June 24, 2026; no additional shirts will be available.
