Event Format

The Freedom Backyard Ultra follows the "Last Runner Standing" format. Every hour, on the hour, all participants must start a new 4.16-mile loop. Runners are eliminated if they miss the start of any loop. The event continues until only one runner remains.

The Course

The event takes place at Missouri Freedom Camp in Bourbon, Missouri, within the Ozark region. The cross-country loop consists of rolling hills, dense woods, creek crossings, and open fields. The terrain includes significant elevation changes, technical single-track trails, and rocky sections.

Charity

All proceeds from the event benefit The Freedom 13, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting military veterans and law enforcement officers through programs focused on mental health, family support, and transition assistance.
