Berryman 50 mile and Marathon Trail Races
The event takes place Saturday, May 16, 2026, with the start and finish at Berryman Campground in the Mark Twain National Forest, between Steelville and Potosi, Missouri. It is organized by the St. Louis Ultrarunners Group and includes ITRA points for finishers and an RRCA state championship designation for the marathon.
Distances:
- 50 Miler (two loops, approximately 53 trail miles)
- Marathon (one loop, approximately 26.4 trail miles)
The course is a designated National Recreation Trail consisting of a single-track loop through forest with continuous hills. Each loop has roughly 2,500 ft of elevation gain and loss. Trail surfaces include rocks, roots, and multiple stream crossings, including Brazil Creek near the midcourse. The race runs clockwise.
Aid stations are placed about every 5 to 6 miles and offer water, sports drink, soda, and typical ultra snacks. The event operates cupless; runners must carry a bottle or hydration pack and will receive a reusable HydraPak SpeedCup at packet pickup.
Finisher medals are awarded for completing one loop (marathon) and two loops (50 mile). Overall top three male and female finishers and age category winners receive special awards. Pacers are permitted only under specific rules for the 50 mile second loop and must be registered. The event has a no refund policy, rollover credit rules for withdrawals, and registration or distance changes close on May 11.
