Freedom 5K and 1K Kid's Run - St. Germain
The 20th annual Freedom 5K Fun Run takes place in St. Germain on June 28, 2026, with the start and finish at St. Germain Community Park near Highway 70 and Highway 155. The event includes a trail 5K and a 1K kid's run.
Proceeds from the event are directed to the St. Germain Silent Trails organization to support maintenance and development of the Town of St. Germain non-motorized trails. Named trails receiving support include the Fern Ridge Trail, the Awassa Trail, and a 12-mile paved bike and hike trail. These trail facilities are used year-round for biking, hiking, snowshoeing, fat biking, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing.
The course begins and ends at the community park, continues onto the snowmobile trail and into the Awassa Trail system, and is run primarily on trail surfaces. The route is mostly flat and follows packed dirt, grass, or gravel of varying width through wooded surroundings. Registration opens February 20, 2026; the 5K registration closes June 20, 2026, and the 1K registration closes June 27, 2026.
