Freedom 4 Miler - Tequesta
The event is a July 4 running festival held at Constitution Park in Tequesta, with a road course that begins on Dover Road behind Tequesta First Baptist Church. All proceeds benefit Believe With Me and the Families of Fallen Soldiers through the Gold Star Christmas project that provides gifts for about 2,500 children. The event includes a "Christmas in July" toy drive and families of fallen heroes attend the finish area.
Race offerings include an in-person, chip timed 4 mile course through the Village of Tequesta and Tequesta Country Club, a virtual 4 mile option, and multiple shorter community runs. The after party takes place in Constitution Park and features complimentary pancakes, Bolay food, a Tiny Cadet Cupcake Dash, an auction, and an awards ceremony.
Participant benefits and awards vary by event. For the 4 mile race the first 800 racers receive a short sleeve Sport Tek shirt and the first 800 finishers receive a custom finisher medal. Overall male and female winners and masters winners receive Engel Coolers. Age group awards are Engel tumblers, three deep in five year age groups from 14 and under through over 80. Other events list age or participant limits and include race numbers, medals, and shirts for many entrants.
