Free State Trail Run : Meriden, KS
The event is held at the Delaware TrailHead of the Perry MTB Trails (Kimberly Drive Trailhead) near Meriden, Kansas. The course is run entirely on single-track hardwood trails with rocky, technical footing and occasional views of Lake Perry. The loop distance is 6.75 miles; each loop has about 752 ft of ascent and 752 ft of descent.
Distances offered:
- 40-Mile: 6 loops (6.75-mile loop)
- Marathon: 4 loops
- Half Marathon: 2 loops
- Quarter Marathon (6.5 miles): 1 loop
Logistics include a staffed start/finish aid station with sports drink, water, Coke, Ginger Ale, and food items; remote unstaffed water points at mile 2.6 and mile 4.3 supply water only. Runners must carry a hydration device because remote stations have no cups and the longest gap between water points exceeds 3 miles. One drop bag is allowed for all distances except the quarter marathon; 40-mile entrants should include a flashlight or headlamp in their drop bag. Canine pacers are allowed up to the half marathon with a rules form; human pacers are permitted for the final loops of the 40-mile only and must sign a waiver on race day. Timing is manual and bibs must be worn visibly on the front. T-shirts and logo mugs are provided to those registered before October 2. Entry fees for 2025 are listed by distance. A $5 state park fee applies and volunteers have designated parking. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
