Free State Trail Run

The Free State Trail Run in Meriden, KS takes place on October 11, 2026 at the Delaware TrailHead of the Perry MTB Trails. The event uses a 6.75 mile single track loop through hardwood forest. The trail is rocky and technical and offers occasional views of Lake Perry. Elevation change per loop is about 752 ft ascent and 752 ft descent.

Distances offered

• 40 Miler: six loops of the 6.75 mile circuit
• Marathon: four loops
• Half Marathon: two loops
• Quarter Marathon: one loop (6.75 miles)

Aid and logistics

• The start finish aid station is staffed and supplies sports drink, water, Coke, Ginger Ale, and food.
• Remote water only stations are located at about mile 2.6 and mile 4.3; there are no cups at those stations, so a hydration device is required.
• One drop bag is allowed for all distances except the quarter marathon; runners pass the drop bag area on each loop.
• Manual timing is used; bibs must be worn visibly on the front of the body.
• A five dollar state park fee applies near the start finish area and parking is restricted near the trailhead.

• Human pacers are permitted only for the 40 Miler during the last two loops; one pacer per runner and a waiver are required.
• Canine pacers are allowed up to the half marathon with a required form.
• Registered participants who register before October 2 receive a T shirt and logo mug. All finishers receive distance specific hardware and 40 Miler finishers receive a finisher cap. Place awards are given for first through third by gender in each distance.
