Free State Trail Run
The Free State Trail Run is a trail race held at the Delaware TrailHead of the Perry MTB Trails near Meriden, KS. The course is a 6.75 mile single track loop through hardwood forest, run entirely on single track that is rocky and technical with occasional views of Lake Perry. Each loop has about 752 feet of ascent and 752 feet of descent.

Aid and support are focused at the start/finish area where a staffed aid station provides sports drink, water, soda, and food items, and where porta potties are located. Remote unstaffed water stations provide water only and there are no cups at those stations; participants should carry a hydration device or water bottle. One drop bag is allowed for all distances except the quarter marathon; drop bags must be labeled and are accessible on each pass by the start/finish area. 40 mile runners must carry a working headlamp or flashlight for later loops.
Manual timing is used and bib numbers must be worn visibly on the front of the body. Finishers receive distance specific hardware and 40 mile finishers receive finisher caps. Pacers are permitted only for the 40 mile distance during the final loops under event rules, and canine pacers are allowed up to the half marathon with required paperwork. The course is marked with reflective directional signs and wrong way signs at intersections. A small state park fee is collected near the start/finish and parking guidance is provided for the event area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
