About the race
The Irish Life Frank Duffy 10 Mile is an August road race held in Phoenix Park, Dublin, that follows a scenic loop of the park and finishes on Furze Road. The course runs from Chesterfield Avenue around park roads including Ordnance Survey Road, Knockmaroon Road, Upper Glen Road, Military Road, Wellington Road, Acres Road and past the Phoenix Monument, with a U-turn at Castleknock Gate before returning to Furze Road for the finish. The route includes rolling hills, with most incline in the latter stages.
Race administration uses posted race numbers with chip timing attached; chips must remain on the race number for an official time. Baggage labels are printed on the race number and a baggage drop is provided near the Chesterfield Avenue junction on Furze Road. A supply of safety pins and a bike park near the start area are available. Shuttle buses operate between Parkgate Street and the park for runners.
There are three hydration stations located at miles 3, 6 and 8, a medical station close to the finish, and official pacers for finish targets of 70, 80, 90 and 100 minutes. Finishers receive a goody bag and an event t-shirt; the bag includes Lucozade Sport, water and a Grenade protein bar.
