Gladstone Kiwanis Firecracker Run
The Fran Cannon Firecracker Run is an annual athletic event held in Gladstone, Michigan. Hosted by the Gladstone-Rapid River Kiwanis, the event takes place on Independence Day and offers various distances through the local area, starting near 9th Street and Minneapolis Avenue. Participants can choose from three distinct event categories:
- 5 Miles (Running)
- 2.5 Miles (Walking)
- 1 Mile (Kids Fun Run)
The event is open to all age groups. Registered participants receive a commemorative T-shirt while supplies last. Competitive recognition is part of the 5-mile run, where trophies are presented to the overall male and female winners. Additionally, medals are awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers across several age categories.
Participants who register in advance are able to collect their race materials prior to the event date at the large pavilion located across from the Gladstone State Police Post. The proceedings begin with the youth-focused run, followed by the longer running and walking distances.
