Fox's Hourglass Ultra
Fox's Hourglass Ultra follows a backyard ultra format with a 24-hour maximum. Participants run a marked loop of 4.167 miles repeatedly, beginning each lap exactly one hour after the previous start. The race continues until only one runner remains or until the 24-hour limit is reached. If multiple runners remain for the final 24th hour, the winner is the participant who completes the final lap first.
Each runner must be present in the starting corral at the initial start or they receive a Did Not Finish (DNF). To remain in the race, a participant must complete each loop and return to the starting corral within the hour. Failure to start or finish a loop within the allotted hour results in a DNF. Note that the event can end before the full 24 hours if only one runner remains.
Event logistics include packet pickup and basecamp checkout on Friday evening, with additional packet pickup, parking, and basecamp setup on Saturday morning. Organizers hold an event briefing before the first lap and provide 3-, 2-, and 1-minute warnings leading up to the initial start. The final lap and an award ceremony are scheduled for Sunday morning; the final lap may occur earlier if the field resolves before 24 hours.
