Foundation for Blind Children Stride For Sight 5K & 1 Mile Run/Walk
The event takes place at Arizona Boardwalk in Scottsdale and raises funds for the Foundation for Blind Children. It offers a timed 5K and a relaxed 1-mile walk held on local course routes. Participants receive a custom finisher medal and a Dri-Fit tech t-shirt; there is an option to decline the shirt for a small discount. The 5K is chip timed with real time results and event photos available online and via a mobile app. Male and female age group awards are given to the top three finishers in each 5K age division.
A distinctive element is the Blindfold Challenge: two-person teams can run the 5K with one teammate blindfolded and the other serving as sighted guide. Blindfolds and tethers are provided. Each teammate must register separately. Teams may run the full route blindfolded, switch roles partway, or have the sighted guide run without the blindfold.
Packet pickup is available the day before at Sole Sports in Scottsdale and at the race location on event day. The event welcomes wheelchairs, strollers, and wagons, and is leashed pet friendly. Roller blades, bicycles, skateboards, and motorized devices are not allowed on the courses. The event proceeds rain or shine and there is no bag check.
