Fort Smith Marathon, Half Marathon & 5 Leg Marathon Relay
The Fort Smith Marathon takes place in Arkansas, featuring a course that begins and ends at the River Front Pavilion at 100 N B St. The route travels through historic downtown Fort Smith, local neighborhoods, and paved trails. The terrain consists of rolling hills with several specific climbs and descents.
Participants can choose from several event formats:
- Marathon: A full-distance race capped at 150 participants.
- Half Marathon: A shorter course with 350 available spots.
- 5 Leg Marathon Relay: A team event for up to 150 participants, divided into five sections.
The relay legs vary in distance and elevation. The first leg covers 5.4 miles with 260 feet of gain, followed by a 4.8-mile leg. The third section is 4.5 miles, the fourth is 6.3 miles, and the final leg is 5.5 miles.
The event provides on-course support with 14 aid stations for the full marathon and 8 for the half marathon. These stations offer water and Gatorade, while marathon stations between miles 10 and 21 also provide nutrition such as pretzels, gummy bears, and fruit. Pacers are available for various time goals, ranging from 3:45 to 6:00 for the full marathon and 1:50 to 3:00 for the half marathon. A course cutoff is enforced based on an 8-hour pace, with the finish line closing at 3:00 PM. High-visibility landmarks along the route include the River Front Park and various local schools and clinics. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
