Forest of Dean Spring Trails Half Marathon
The Forest of Dean Spring Trails Half Marathon is an annual half-marathon held in the Forest of Dean at the end of March. The officially measured course is 13 miles 192.5 yards and starts and finishes at the Speech House Hotel, following a clockwise loop of way-marked forest trails and short road sections. The route uses well maintained tracks, is marked by yellow paint on the ground, and includes mile-markers. Lead cyclists will guide the field and roads are closed at crossing points where required.
The event is organised by The Rotary Club of the Royal Forest of Dean with support from the Forestry Commission and a range of local volunteers and organisations. Proceeds are used to support charities. The race has been selected as the British Trail Running Championships short distance event and also serves as a qualifier for England Athletics Age Group Masters trail teams.
Entrants must be at least 17 years old. Entry fees differ for UKA-affiliated and non-affiliated runners, and a registration deadline and a late entry window apply. Race bibs include integrated timing chips issued on race day; results are determined by gun timing with chip-assisted personal times and are provided by an external timing service. Three water stations are provided at roughly 5 km intervals and drinks are available at the finish. Medical cover and radio communications are provided along the course.
