Event overview

The Forest of Dean Spring Trails Half Marathon takes place in the Forest of Dean on Sunday 22 March 2026. The event is organised by the Rotary Club of the Royal Forest of Dean with support from the Forestry Commission. Proceeds are used to support local and national charities. The event uses volunteer support and local organisations for race operations.

Course and race details

The officially measured half-marathon distance is 13 miles 192.5 yards. The course starts on the road adjacent to the Speech House Hotel, follows a clockwise loop of well-maintained forest trails and returns to the Speech House Hotel for the finish. The multi-terrain route is way-marked, marshalled and marked by yellow paint on the ground, with mile-markers provided. The route generally uses well-maintained tracks with gentle inclines and includes short road sections; spikes should not be worn. Lead cyclists will guide the race and some roads will be closed to allow runners to cross. There are three water stations at approximately 5 km intervals and drinks at the finish.

Entries, timing and prizes

Entrants must be 17 years or older on race day. Entry fees are listed as £32 for UKA-affiliated club members and £34 for non-affiliated runners; these figures include a £5 non-refundable processing fee and manual entries carry an extra £3. Entries must be received by 8 March 2026; remaining online entries may be available until 20 March 2026. Race results use gun timing under UKA rules with chip timing for individual performance; bibs with integrated chips are issued on the day and are not collected after the race. Age-group categories run from 17 to 34 through to 80+ for both men and women. Trophies and awards include first overall male and female, age-group and local Forest of Dean awards, team prizes, youngest/oldest finisher awards, and Top 50 t-shirts for the first 50 male and first 50 female finishers. Emergency medical cover and radio communications will be in place along the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
