Forest of Dean Autumn Half Marathon
The Forest of Dean Autumn Half Marathon is a measured trails race through the Forest of Dean held on Sunday 27 September 2026. The officially measured course is 13 miles 192.5 yards and is laid out on forest trails with no road crossings. The route starts and finishes at Speech House and is way-marked, signed and marshalled, with mile markers and yellow paint on the ground.
The course uses a variety of well-maintained tracks and some newer trails; it is slightly hillier than the spring course. The race is led by lead cyclists and will include water stations at approximately 5 km intervals, with drinks also available at the finish. Road running shoes or trainers are suitable; spikes should not be used because short gravel sections are included.
Under UKA rules results will be determined by gun timing and individual performances will also be confirmed by chip timing. Race bibs with integrated timing chips are issued on the day from a tent near the start. Finishers receive a medal with ribbon and a number of trophies are awarded across senior, veteran and local categories.
The event is organised by The Rotary Club of the Royal Forest of Dean with support from the Forestry Commission. Proceeds are used to support charities locally and nationally. The course is covered by radio communications and medical cover is provided at key points and near the finish. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
