Footsteps For Progress 5K Run/Walk
The Footsteps For Progress 5K Run/Walk is a community event held at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, New York. Organized to benefit Queens Centers for Progress, the event supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The activities take place rain or shine, with the main course located near the Queens Museum and Queens Theater.
Participants can choose from several event options:
- 5K Run/Walk: An in-person 3.1-mile course through the park.
- FREE Kids Fun Run: A non-competitive event for children.
- Virtual 5K: A flexible option allowing participants to complete their distance at any location between April 26 and May 3.
Registered participants for the in-person 5K receive a dri-fit shirt and a medal, while supplies last. Those who register at least three weeks before the event receive a personalized race bib with their name. In-person amenities include snacks and drinks provided by local sponsors. The event also features a finish line celebration.
Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in various age categories, ranging from 19 and under to 60 and over. There are also awards for the top overall male and female finishers and the top participant in the wheelchair division.
