Footsteps For Progress 5K Run/Walk
Footsteps For Progress is an annual community 5K Run/Walk organized in partnership with Queens Centers for Progress. The event takes place at Flushing Meadows Corona Park and includes a virtual participation option and a free kids fun run. The format includes a color bash with a monochrome option and a finish line celebration.
Amenities listed include a race tee-shirt and medal while supplies last, snacks and drinks provided by local vendors, live online and same-day results, and same-day finish line photos. In-person bib pickup occurs on race day; participants must know their bib number or use a self lookup area. Participants who register within 24 hours of bib pickup may receive their bib number by text. Virtual participant bibs are shipped, with a shipping window ranging from one week before the event to one week after.
Awards are given by age group for the top three male and female finishers in multiple age categories, plus top overall male and female and top wheelchair finisher. The beneficiary is Queens Centers for Progress, which provides person-centered services and supports to children and adults with developmental disabilities to promote independence, community involvement, and quality of life.
Parking is noted at the Queens Museum building on Meridian Road with a short walk to the Queens Theater. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
