Footsteps For Progress 5K Run/Walk
The Footsteps For Progress event is an annual community run and walk organized in support of Queens Centers for Progress. The event takes place in Flushing Meadows Corona Park with parking available at the Queens Museum building on Meridian Road and pedestrian access toward the Queens Theater. Registration is not yet open and will open ahead of the event date. A virtual participation option is available.
The event format includes a color-themed 5K run walk roll with a monochrome option and a finish line celebration. A free kids fun run is offered. Race tee shirts and medals are distributed while supplies last. Snacks and drinks are provided by local sponsors. Results are delivered live online and by email or text, and same-day finish line photos and event video are available. Miscellaneous event photos appear on social media.
Awards are given by age group for top three male and female finishers and include categories for overall winners and wheelchair division. In-person bib pickup begins on race day and virtual bibs are shipped within a window that ranges from one week prior to one week after the event. Registrations completed at least three weeks before the event are eligible for personalized race numbers. The beneficiary is Queens Centers for Progress, which provides person centered services and supports for people with developmental disabilities.
