Footsteps For Progress 5K Run/Walk
Footsteps For Progress is an annual community 5K run/walk and finish line celebration held at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The event includes a color bash version of the 5K with a monochrome option, plus a free kids fun run and a virtual participation option.
The beneficiary is Queens Centers for Progress, which provides person-centered services and supports to children and adults with developmental disabilities to promote independence, community involvement, and quality of life.
Race amenities include a race tee-shirt and medal while supplies last, finish line snacks and drinks provided by Dunkin Donuts, Stop & Shop, and Frito Lay, live online and same-day results, and finish line photos and video. In-person bib pickup is available on race day; registering several weeks in advance can secure a personalized race number. Virtual participants receive bibs by shipping within a window that may range from one week before the event to one week after.
Awards are presented by age group for the top three men and women in each listed category, plus top overall men and women and a top wheelchair award. The venue notes parking near the Queens Museum building on Meridian Road with a walk to the Queens Theater area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
