Event Overview
The Footprints Forever 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run is an annual community event held in the Pointe-Marie neighborhood of Baton Rouge. Now in its fifth year, the event serves as a benefit for Maddie’s Footprints Greater Baton Rouge, an organization that provides emotional and financial support to families who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, or the loss of a child under one year of age.
Participants can choose from the following event options:
- 5K Run (3.1 miles)
- 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk
- Virtual Runner (donation-based participation without physical attendance)
The course is located at Pointe-Marie on River Road. The event is timed by FreshJunkie, and participants who register by September 24, 2026, are guaranteed a race t-shirt, though t-shirts are not provided for virtual participants. For those attending with children who are not running, wristbands are available for access to games and activities.
Awards and Recognition
Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in various age groups, ranging from 9 and under to 70 and above. In addition to athletic performance, the event recognizes community involvement with awards for the Top Fundraising Team, the team with the most participants, and the Best Costumed Team.
Remembrance and Community
A central part of the gathering is the Remembrance Celebration, which takes place after the races. This ceremony honors and pays tribute to babies lost to pregnancy or infant loss. The event environment includes music, food, and family-oriented activities such as fun jumps. Parking for the event is located at the L’Auberge Casino lot on River Road.
