Flying 5k
The Flying 5k is a road-closed 5 kilometre event held at Scottow Enterprise Park on the former RAF Coltishall airbase. The course is described as fast and flat and is located away from public roads, which reduces traffic and removes a cut-off. The venue includes plentiful parking, disabled parking and toilets at the race headquarters. All finishers receive a medal.
Distances available:
- 5 km, minimum age 11, affiliated £16, unaffiliated £18, Couch to 5k £25
- Children's race 2 km, minimum age 5, entry £5
The children’s course is measured and will be timed by Total Race Timing. The course is suitable for wheelchairs. Prizes are awarded in the children’s race for first male and first female overall. Senior and veteran prizes include overall, wheelchair and multiple age group categories, plus team awards with three to score; overall winners cannot also win an age group prize.
The event is run under UK Athletics rules with a UK licence to be notified. Headphones and earbuds are not permitted because vehicles may be present and athletes must be able to hear marshal instructions; wearing them during the race will result in disqualification. Entries are non refundable and cannot be deferred; transfers to another runner are allowed until midnight on 13/07/2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
